WEST HANOVER TOWNSHIP SUPERVISORS AUTHORIZE THE CREATION OF A SITE DESIGN PLAN FOR THE NEW FIRE STATION

Tonight, the West Hanover Townships Supervisors gave the go-ahead for HRG Engineers to develop a site design plan for the new fire station on Jonestown Road at North Clover Lane. The site plan will configure utility hookups, building location, parking and provide construction management services for the new station.

WEST HANOVER RECEIVES $300,000 FOR NEW STATION ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN WORK AND ENGINEERING

On Friday, January 29th, 2010, Dauphin County Commissioners voted to approve 19 grants from the Hollywood Casino Grant Program for a variety of projects in Dauphin County. West Hanover Township was fortunate to be awarded a $300,000 grant for the architectural design work and engineering of the New Station 36-1.

Congratulations to some of our mutual aid companies who also received grants for a variety of projects!

WEST HANOVER FIRE COMPANY FINALIZES LAND PURCHASE FOR NEW STATION 36-1

Tonight, West Hanover Township Supervisors voted unanimously to authorize the purchase of approximately 3 acres of land at 7624 Jonestown Road at a price of $344,000 for the New Station 36-1 to replace the current station on Walnut Ave. More info as it becomes available!


 
NEW ENGINE 36-1 EXPECTED TO GO INSERVICE WITHIN THE NEXT 3 WEEKS

The New Engine 36-1 is very close to being placed in service within the next three weeks. About 80% of the new tools and equipment are mounted. Lettering is about 90% complete and the new radios are in. The new hose is still on order but Paxtonia, Hummelstown and South Hanover Fire Companies have thankfully donated some of their extra hose to use until the arrival of the new hose. Crews still have some more driver training to complete and East Penn Fire still has some minor modifications to make to some compartments. Everything should be completed and the New Engine ready to enter service by the second week of August. More info and pictures will be posted upon final completion of the Engine. Stay tuned!!!


 
NEW ENGINE 36-2 ORDERED

At the July company meeting, members voted to accept the bid from East Penn Fire for a 2009 Spartan Gladiator/Central States Engine. This Engine will have similar specs to Engine 36-1. Build time for the New Engine 36-2 is expected to be about a year.


 
25-30 FOOT EXPANSION PLANNED FOR STATION 36-2

Renovations to the current portion of Station 36-2 as well as a 25-30 ft. expansion to the rear has been planned. The expansion is set to begin in the next few months with completion by 2010-2011 in order to accommodate the New Engine 36-2. The expansion will include lengthening the bays, a day room with HDTV, small kitchen, office, new bathrooms, tool room, storage room and furnace/boiler room.


 
NEW ENGINE 36-1 ARRIVES IN PENNSYLVANIA

The New Engine 36-1 has arrived at East Penn Fire in Schuylkill Haven, PA. Within the next few weeks it will have the tools mounted, hoses loaded and lettering finished.Unfortunately it will not be ready in time for the County Convention in Linglestown next week.

  


 
   
   
ENGINE 36-1 IS FINISHED AND AWAITING FINAL INSPECTION ON MAY 28TH

The final inspection of the New Engine 36-1 is set to take place on May 28th. If everything passes at the final inspection it will begin its journey back to PA. Depending on its arrival date it might make an appearance at the Dauphin County Convention in Linglestown. Keep checking back for updates!

UPDATE ON NEW ENGINE 36-2

Company 36 members have voted to put the design/specs for the New Engine 36-2 out on bid. Members voted to duplicate the design/specs to match the design/specs of the New Engine 36-1 which will be arriving in the next 2 weeks. We will essentially have twin engines. COMPANY 36, 46 & 47 APPLY FOR A REGIONAL FEMA GRANT

Company 36, Company 46 (Hummelstown) & Company 47 (South Hanover) have jointly applied for a Regional FEMA Grant. Company 36 hopes to acquire enough funding for 30 new sets of turn-out gear and to replace our MSA SCBAs. More info as it becomes available.


 
LAND ACQUISTION PLAN FOR NEW STATION 36-1 UNDERWAY

Utilizing the money received from the Casino Grant, the West Hanover Township Fire Company Executive Board along with the West Hanover Township Supervisors are currently working collaboratively to purchase property on Jonestown Road at Manor Drive (next to Zinc Piping Corporation) for the construction of a New Station 36-1. Estimated completion time for the New Main Fire Station is 3-5 years. More info as it becomes available.


 
COMPANY 36 RECEIVES $729,500.00 IN GRANT MONEY FROM THE CASINO GRANT PROGRAM

Company 36 has received $729,500.00 in funding from the Dauphin County Gaming Advisory Board through the Casino Grant Project. The money will be used to purchase a New Engine 36-2 and acquire land for the New Station 36-1. More info as it becomes available!

New Engine 36-1 Specs/Diagram - The Spartan Gladiator Chassis will be delivered to the Central States factory within the next 2-3 weeks. Delivery is still expected in May 2009.


 
COMPANY 36 SUBMITS CASINO GRANT APPLICATION FOR FUNDING OF A NEW ENGINE 36-2

Earlier this year, Company 36 submitted a grant application to hopefully receive funding for a New Engine 36-2. If the funding is received a similar engine will be ordered to match the one currently on order. The goal is to have two new similar Engines (Engines 36-1 & 36-2). Current Engine 36-1 (1990 Pierce) would become the Reserve Engine. More info as it becomes available!

The New Engine 36-1 has been ordered as of April 22, 2008. It will be a Spartan Gladiator Chassis with a Central States Aluminum Body. Expected Delivery is in early May 2009. The cab & chassis will be delivered to the factory in early January 2009.

- 435 HP Cummins Diesel Engine with an Allison 4000 EVS Transmission
- A Side-Mounted Waterous 2,000 GPM 2 stage pump rated at 1750 GPM
- 1000 Gallon Water Tank

- 8-man cab with seating for 6
