Stations
 

Station 36-1

Station 1 was originally built in 1955, but has been expanded and renovated numerous times over the years. It consists of three bays, a gear area, a gear locker, a cascade system, a hose washer/dryer, an emergency operations center, numerous offices, tool room, a day room with kitchen, exercise equipment, numerous recliners and 42” HDTV, bath facilities, a social hall with kitchen, executive offices and numerous storage rooms. This station houses Engine 36-1, Rescue 36-1, Brush 36-1, Special Unit 36 and the Chief / Duty Officer Vehicle when it is not staffed. It is located off of Linglestown Road on Walnut Avenue in the area of the new CD High School. This currently serves as the main company station until the completed construction of the new station in the next few years.

Station 36-2

Station 2 was originally a one car garage when acquired in 1970, but was demolished and completely rebuilt with an all steel building in 1983. This station was remodeled and doubled in size in early 2011. It is currently a sub-station that consists of two bays, gear area, tool room, day room, an office, a kitchen, bathroom facilities, and a storage room. This station houses Engine 36-2 and the reserve engine, Engine 36. It is located on South Hershey Road (Route 39) near the intersection of Devonshire Heights Road and is primarily responsible for covering the southern portion of West Hanover Township.

Station 36-3

Station 3 was originally built in 1976 with two bays, but it was expanded and renovated in the late 90’s to include a third bay. In addition to the three bays, the sub-station consists of a gear area, a storage area, an office/radio room and a bathroom. This station houses Engine/Tanker 36-3, Brush 36 and Utility 36. It is located on Piketown Road across from Mt. Laurel Church at the top of the mountain.

 
Apparatus

Chief / Duty Officer Vehicle

A 2007 Ford Explorer XLT is used by one of the chiefs or the on-duty officer to respond to all calls within the township limits as well as all official company business. It is primarily utilized as a command vehicle. It is equipped with a complete Whelen Lighting Package. The Explorer is equipped with county, township and portable radios. It carries an AED, SCBA, an ABC Dry-Chem Extinguisher and a Pressurized Water Extinguisher and a set of irons. It also is equipped with a command center in the rear and a GPS Navigational/Preplanning System via Panasonic Toughbook Laptop Computer.

Engine 36 (Reserve)

A 1990 Pierce Lance Engine that carries 6 people and 6 SCBAs. The rig has a 445 HP Detroit Diesel engine with a 4 speed Allison automatic transmission. It has a 2000 GPM pump with 1000 gallons of water and 40 gallons of foam. It carries 48 ft. of ground ladders, four 200 ft. pre-connected cross-lays on the side with 3 additional 300 ft. attack lines of various diameters in the back. It also carries 1800 ft. of 5 inch supply hose, forestry hose, 150 ft. front bumper trash line, 30 ft. of hard suction, and a total of 6 portable extinguishers. It is equipped with a chainsaw, a ventilation saw, chimney kit, salvage kit, portable lighting, permanent lighting, a positive/negative pressure fan, high-rise packs, portable pump, and a wide selection of hand tools. It carries an oxygen bag, medical bag & trauma bag.

Engine 36-1

A 2009 Spartan Gladiator / Central States Engine that carries 6 people and 6 SCBAs. The rig has a 435 HP Cummins Diesel Engine with an Allison 4000 EVS Transmission. The cab has a 10” raised roof with air conditioning. It has a 2000 GPM side-mounted Waterous pump with 1000 gallons of water and 20 gallons of Foam. It carries a 24 ft. extension ladder, 14 ft. roof ladder, 10 ft. closet ladder and a little giant ladder. It has a 3” remote control deck gun, a portable deck gun with base, 2000 ft. of 5-inch supply hose, four 200 ft. pre-connected crosslays, 150 ft. front bumper trash line, two high-rise packs, a 400 ft. section of 2 ½ inch in the rear, a 300 ft. section of 2 ½ in the rear and a 400 ft. section of 1 ¾ in the rear. It is equipped with 20 ft. of hard suction, a chainsaw, ventilation saw, chimney kit, salvage kit, electrical kit, lock-out kit, leak kit, a selection of tarps, a negative pressure fan, a positive pressure fan, a portable pump, 7 portable extinguishers, a variety of spill/hazmat equipment, a wide selection of hand tools, an oxygen bag, a medical bag and a trauma bag. It is equipped with a Whelen LED Lighting Package and has 5 Quartz Scene Lights and a large selection of portable scene lighting. It is also equipped with a Thermal Imaging Camera, CO/Gas Meter and an On-Scene Explorer GPS Navigational/Preplanning System via Panasonic Toughbook Laptop Computer. This is the main company engine and is usually the first engine out the door on every type of fire and second unit out the door on all accidents & rescues.

Engine 36-2

A 2010 Spartan Gladiator / Central States Engine that carries 6 people and 6 SCBAs. The rig has a 500 HP Cummins Diesel Engine with an Allison 4000 EVS Transmission. The cab has a 10” raised roof with air conditioning. It has a 2000 GPM side-mounted Waterous pump with 1000 gallons of water and 30 gallons of Foam. It carries a 24 ft. extension ladder, 14 ft. roof ladder, 10 ft. closet ladder and a little giant ladder. It has a 3” remote control deck gun, a portable deck gun with base, 2000 ft. of 5-inch supply hose, four 200 ft. pre-connected crosslays, 150 ft. pre-connected foam line located at the pump panel, 100 ft. front bumper trash line, 150 ft. front bumper 1 ¾-inch line, two high-rise packs, a 400 ft. section of 2 ½-inch in the rear that connects to the Blitz-fire portable monitor or water thief, a 300 ft. section of 2 ½-in the rear that connects to a Blitz hand line and nozzle and a 300 ft. section of 1 ¾-inch in the rear. It is equipped with 30 ft. of hard suction, a chainsaw, ventilation saw, K-12 saw w/carbide and diamond blades, chimney kit, salvage kit, electrical kit, lock-out kit, leak kit, a selection of tarps, a negative pressure fan, a positive pressure fan, a portable pump, 6 portable extinguishers, a variety of spill/hazmat equipment, a wide selection of hand tools, a stokes basket, backboards, an oxygen bag, a medical bag, a trauma bag and an AED. It also has a Amkus Dual Simultaneous Unit with a set of spreaders and a set of O-Cutters. The engine also carries assorted cribbing and hand tools for basic vehicle rescue. It is equipped with a Whelen LED Lighting Package and has 5 Quartz scene lights and a large selection of portable scene lighting. It is also equipped with an On-Scene Explorer GPS Navigational/Preplanning System via Panasonic Toughbook Laptop Computer.

Engine 36-3

A 2000 HME / Central States Engine/Tanker that carries 6 people and 5 SCBAs. It has a 400 HP Cummins engine with an Allison automatic transmission. The cab has a 10” raised roof with air conditioning. It has a 1750 GPM pump with 1800 gallons of water. It has 2 pre-connected crosslays on the sides and 2 attack lines out the back along with 1700 ft. of 5 inch supply hose. It has a 2000-gallon Porta-tank along with 48 feet of ladders onboard. It is equipped with 30 feet of hard suction, a chainsaw, a ventilation saw, chimney kit, salvage kit, portable lighting, permanent lighting, and a wide selection of hand tools. It carries a full selection of medical & trauma supplies and an AED due to its remote location. The Engine/Tanker sits on top a mountain and is mostly responsible for protecting a rural valley.

Rescue 36-1

A 1997 Seagrave Heavy Rescue that carries up to 14 people with 8 in the raised-cab and 6 in the walk-in body. The Rescue has a 515 HP Detroit Diesel Engine with a 5-speed automatic Allison transmission. It is equipped with a 20,000-watt generator and the unit produces over 16,000 watts of on-scene lighting through its numerous floodlights, tri-pod lights and telescoping light tower. The Heavy Rescue has many of the tools necessary to perform vehicle rescue, structure fire rescue, forcible entry, ventilation, rapid intervention, rope rescues, technical rescues, confined space rescues, collapse rescues, trench rescues, water rescues, basic life support, and many other functions. It is first out the door on all in-township vehicle accidents, mutual aid structure fires & entrapments and technical rescues. It has a walk-in body with seating for six along with a complete on-board command post and emergency operations center. The cab and the body both have their own air conditioning systems. The rescue is set up with 10 ready-to-use SCBAs as well as numerous back-ups. It has a 12,000 lbs Ramsey Electric Winch on the front bumper along with over 600 ft. of electrical cords. It has 6 pre-connected Amkus Rescue Tools “The Ultimate System”, which include two spreaders, one speedway cutter, two O-cutters, numerous hydraulic rams and a long list of hand tools and specialized kits. It also has numerous sizes of airbags, specialized torch cutting equipment, numerous ground ladders, a MSA Gas monitor, MSA Thermal Imaging Camera, Paratech Struts, RIT Packs, a huge selection of wood cribbing and a lot of other equipment too. It is currently equipped with an On-Scene Explorer GPS Navigational/Preplanning System via a Panasonic Toughbook Laptop Computer. The Rescue also carries a wide range of medical & trauma supplies, backboards, extrication equipment and an AED. The Rescue is equipped with a Whelen Light Package.

Brush 36

“The Deuce” - A 1990 2 ½-ton military brush truck that carries 3 people. It has a 500 GPM pump with 600 of gallons of water in its two tanks. It carries hundreds of feet of different size forestry and attack hose along with a large amount of supply line. It carries chainsaws, numerous saw kits, and other power equipment. The truck also has an extensive selection of forestry hand tools. This unit is used sparingly and usually only responds to major brush fires & mountain fires that are too big for Brush 36-1 to handle by itself. It is also sometimes used for water rescues in flooding conditions.

Brush 36-1

A 1999 Ford F-350, 7.3 L Powerstroke Turbo Diesel with a Regular Cab that carries 2 people. It has a 250 GPM Darley pump with a Yanmar diesel engine on a skid unit with a 300 gallon tank. It carries 400 ft. of 1” pre-connected attack hose on a booster reel with an additional 600 ft. of 1” stored on the skid unit or in its compartments. It also is equipped with bumper mounted ground sweeps. In addition it carries a large amount of supply line and 24 ft. of hard suction hose. It carries 2 chainsaws and a saw kit along with a wide selection of forestry hand tools. It is equipped with a Whelen Light Package. It responds on all brush/forestry related calls as well as numerous mutual aid calls.

Special Unit 36

A 2004 Ford F-350 Crew Cab that carries up to 5 people. It is first out the door on all medical assist calls and is mostly used to transport additional manpower to a scene. It is equipped with a Whelen Light Package. It carries an AED, medical bag, oxygen bag, trauma bag, collar bag, OB Kit, Deluxe Burn Kit and a backboard. It also has basic hazmat equipment, one MSA SCBA, an additional SCBA cylinder, a set of irons, a little giant ladder, electronic flares, a PW extinguisher and an ABC Dry-Chem Extinguisher.

Traffic 36

A 2011 Ford F-350 Crew Cab with a Reading Utility Body. It is used as a fire police vehicle for traffic control. We are working to get the lettering,lighting system and radios installed soon. Please check back for updates
