Stations

Station 36-1
Station 1 was originally built in 1955, but has been expanded and renovated numerous times over the years. It consists of three bays, a gear area, a gear locker, an emergency operations center, numerous offices; a day room with kitchen, bath facilities, a social hall with kitchen and numerous storage rooms. This station houses Engine 36-1, Rescue 36-1, Brush 36-1 and Special Unit 36. It is located off of Linglestown Road on Walnut Avenue in the area of the new CD High School. This currently serves as the main company station until the completed construction of the new station.

Station 36-2
Station 2 was originally a one car garage when acquired in 1970, but was demolished and completely rebuilt with an all steel building in 1983. It is a sub-station that consists of two bays, a gear area, a bathroom, and a storage room. This station houses Engine 36-2 and the reserve engine, Engine 36. It is located on South Hershey Road (Route 39) near the intersection of Devonshire Heights Road. It will be replaced in the future by a new station on Route 22.

Station 36-3
Station 3 was originally built in 1976 with two bays, but it was expanded and renovated in the late 90's to include a third bay. In addition to the three bays, the sub-station consists of a gear area, a storage area, an office and a bathroom. This station houses Engine 36-3, Brush 36 and Utility 36. It is located on Piketown Road across from Mt. Laurel Church at the top of the mountain.

Apparatus

Chief / Duty Officer Vehicle
A 2007 Ford Explorer XLT – Special Services Edition is used by one of the chiefs or the on-duty officer to respond to all calls within the township limits. It is equipped with a complete Whelen Strobe/LED Package and Whelen siren. The Explorer is equipped with county, township and portable radios. It carries an SCBA, an ABC Dry-Chem Extinguisher and a Pressurized Water Extinguisher. It also carries a set of irons. In the future it will be equipped with a complete command center in the back as well as carry an AED.

Engine 36-1
A 1990 Pierce Lance Engine that carries 6 people and 6 SCBAs. The rig has a 445 HP Detroit Diesel engine with a 4 speed Allison automatic transmission. It has a 2000 GPM pump with 1000 gallons of water and 40 gallons of foam. It carries 48 ft. of ladders, four 300 ft. pre-connected crosslays on the side with 3 additional 300 ft. attack lines of various diameters in the back. It also carries 2600 ft. of 5 inch supply hose, 24 ft. of hard suction, and a total of 6 portable extinguishers. It is equipped with a chainsaw, a quick-vent, chimney kit, salvage kit, portable lighting, permanent lighting, an MSA Thermal Imaging Camera, and a wide selection of handtools. It is usually the first engine out the door on every type of fire and second out the door on all accidents & rescues. This is the main company engine and it will continue to be until the delivery of the new engine.

Engine 36-2
A 1993 International 4900/ 4-Guys Engine that carries 5 people and 5 SCBAs. It has a 1250 GPM pump with 1000 gallons of water onboard. It has 2 pre-connected crosslays out the side along with 3 attack lines out the back. It carries over 2000 ft. of 5 inch supply hose. It carries an extension ladder as well as a roof ladder. It is equipped with a full selection of medical supplies as well as an AED. This engine is located at the far southern end of the township and it is mostly responsible for fire protection and mutual aid. This engine will be returned to reserve status as Engine 36 upon the arrival of the new engine in late 2008.

Engine 36-3
A 2000 HME / Central States Engine/Tanker that carries 6 people and 5 SCBAs. It has a 400 HP Cummins engine with an Allison automatic transmission. It has a 1750 GPM pump with 1800 gallons of water. It has 2 pre-connected crosslays on the sides and 2 attack lines out the back along with well over 2500 ft. of 5 inch supply hose. It has a 2000-gallon Porta-tank along with 50 feet of ladders onboard. It is equipped with a chainsaw, a quick-vent, chimney kit, salvage kit, portable lighting, permanent lighting, and a wide selection of handtools. It carries a full selection of medical & trauma supplies and an A.E.D. due to its remote location. The engine sits on top a mountain and is mostly responsible for protecting a rural valley. It responds on most types of calls throughout the northern end of the township along with mutual aid.

Rescue 36-1
"Heavy Baby" A 1997 Seagrave Heavy Rescue that carries up to 14 people with 8 in the raised-cab and 6 in the walk-in body. The Rescue has a 515 HP Detroit Diesel Engine with a 5-speed automatic Allison transmission. It is equipped with a 20,000-watt generator and the unit produces over 16,000 watts of on-scene lighting through its numerous floodlights, tri-pod lights and telescoping light tower. The Heavy Rescue has many of the tools necessary to perform vehicle rescue, structure fire rescue, forcible entry, ventilation, rapid intervention, rope rescue, technical rescues, water rescues, basic life support, and many other functions. It is first out the door on all in-township vehicle accidents, mutual aid structure fires & entrapments and technical rescues. It has a walk-in body with seating for six along with a complete on-board emergency operations center. The rescue is set up with 10 SCBAs. It has a 12,000 lbs Ramsey Electric Winch on the front bumper along with over 600 ft. of electrical cords. It has 6 pre-connected Amkus Rescue Tools "The Ultimate System", which include two spreaders, one speedway cutter, two O-cutters, numerous hydraulic rams and a long list of hand tools. It also has numerous sizes of airbags, specialized torch cutting equipment, ladders, a MSA Gas monitor, MSA Thermal Imaging Camera, Paratech Struts and a lot of other equipment too.

Brush 36
"The Deuce" A 1990 2 1/2-ton military brush truck that carries 2 people. It has a 500 GPM pump with 600 of gallons of water in its two tanks. It carries hundreds of feet of attack hose along with a large amount of supply line. It carries chainsaws, numerous saw kits, and other power equipment. The truck also has an extensive selection of forestry hand tools. This unit usually only responds to major brush fires & mountain fires that are too big for Brush 36-1 to handle by itself.

Brush 36-1
"Brush Hog" A 1999 Ford F-350, 7.3 L Powerstroke Turbo Diesel with a Regular Cab that carries 2 people. It has a 250 GPM Darley pump with a Yanmar diesel engine on a skid unit with a 300 gallon tank. It carries 400 ft. of 1" pre-connected attack hose on a booster reel with an additional 600 ft. of 1" stored on the skid unit or in its compartments. In addition it carries a large amount of supply line and 24 ft. of hard suction hose. It carries 2 chainsaws and a saw kit along with a wide selection of forestry hand tools.

Special Unit 36
The Special Unit is a 2004 Ford F-350 Crew Cab that carries up to 5 people. It is first out the door on all medical assist calls and is mostly used to transport additional manpower to a scene. It carries an A.E.D., medical bag, trauma bag and an oxygen bag. It also has basic haz-mat equipment, one MSA SCBA, an additional cylinder, a set of irons, a 4ft. ladder, a PW & a dry chemical extinguisher.

Utility 36
1994 Ford F-350 Crew Cab with a cap, that carries up to 6 people. The fire police use it for traffic control and it carries equipment for major spill clean-ups.
